We are looking for an Employment Placement Specialist to join our team.

This opportunity reports to the Associate Program Director, the Employment Placement Specialist assists unemployed, or underemployed, individuals to obtain employment by performing duties such as supporting clients to identify realistic employment options, become job ready, source prospective employers and provide coaching.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Markets employment and training program(s) to prospective clients and employers and develops related promotional materials.
  • Interviews clients and identifies interests, skills, suitability, and job readiness. Refers to other programs and services as required and provides information regarding available community resources. Develops realistic employment action plans with clients.
  • Provides supportive counselling and behavioral management techniques to assist clients in establishing strategies to seek, obtain, and maintain employment.
  • Follow up with employers and clients to ensure education, work experience, and employment placements and agreements are established and maintained, and to monitor the quality of placements. Assist employers and clients by performing duties such as job coaching, providing education and information, and advising on client's special needs.

Required Qualifications:


  • Diploma in Business Administration or Community Social Service
  • Recent, related experience of three (3) years
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • CCDP Certification considered an asset.
  • Valid BC driver's license and use of motor vehicle
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Open Door Group must be fully vaccinated for COVID19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport motivate clients and/or program participants to learn skills and acquire employment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage a varied client load, and work under pressure.
  • Time management skills combined with ability to prioritize; strong organizational skills a must.
  • Ability to work independently, in cooperation with others, and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of the local labour market trends and training/employment opportunities in BC.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage a highvolume caseload while maintaining quality, Clientcentered service.
  • Ability to take initiative and problem solve
  • Advanced MS Office and database skills.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious and productive relationships with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize
