Major Responsibilities:


Ski Centre Servicer:

  • Performs tasks required for the operation and maintenance of a ski centre.
  • Determines and takes corrective measures to ensure a high quality and safe skiing surface
  • Operates various types of motor vehicles, snow grooming machines, mechanized snowmaking equipment, snowplows and salters, and ski lifts
  • Performs annual setup and dismantling of the Ski Centre and the maintenance and repairs to the snowmaking system, grooming equipment and ski lifts
  • Completes written reports, daily logbook, and forms of the duties performed, difficulties, incidents/accidents, facility use and complaints
  • Provides general supervision of the facility including maintenance and cleaning of indoor areas (staff and public washrooms, common areas of ski chalet) and ensures the terms of permits are upheld
  • Performs other related work as assigned

Parks Handyworker 3:

  • Performs manual tasks in park areas which require some gardening ability
  • Operates various types of equipment, mechanized grounds maintenance and grass cutting equipment
  • Maintains parks turf by mowing, string trimming, fertilizing, clearing litter and removing garbage, as well as setting up semiautomatic and automatic irrigation systems
  • Cleans, maintains and makes minor repairs to park washrooms
  • Cleans, maintains and makes minor repairs to parks facilities and furnishings including, playing fields, ice rinks, parks benches, etc.
  • Sets up equipment such as chairs, benches and soccer/football posts, etc.
  • Clears and maintains parks walkways and entrances, including snow shovelling
  • Assists in maintaining horticultural beds and shrubs, as required
  • Performs other related work as assigned

Key Qualifications:


For Ski Centre Servicer:


  • Considerable experience in operating motorized vehicles, specialized snow grooming machines etc.
  • Must possess and be able to maintain a current Certificate of Qualification as a Lift Mechanic (minimum SLM-T: Ski Lift Mechanic in Training) in accordance with the regulations enforced in the Province of Ontario.
  • Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Province of Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and must qualify for the City's equipment operating permits and requirements.

For Parks Handyworker 3:


  • Experience in grounds maintenance and/or horticulture, preferably in a park setting.
  • Experience with grounds maintenance and grass cutting equipment.
  • Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Province of Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and must qualify for the City's equipment operating permits and requirements.
