OngoingReporting to the District Principal responsible for Career Education programs and under the general supervision of the Principal (or designate), the Career Advisor performs a variety of functions related to providing information and assistance to students making postsecondary education/career choices. The Career Advisor assists students in researching career and postsecondary information, industry training opportunities, work experience placements, and jobseeking skills.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Grade 12 graduation and completion of a 6month Career Development Practitioner Program or equivalent related education.
One year of related experience.
Good understanding of career development and planning processes.
Ability to access and use careerrelated resources and education planning websites.
Ability to use labor market information to meet students' vocational needs.
Good understanding of the concepts of employability and job search skills.
Good knowledge of BC trades training.
Good knowledge of postsecondary and training institutions.
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with all internal and external contacts.
Ability to work as a member of a cohesive and collaborative team.
Ability to organize and present information related to the career education program and careerrelated programs to a variety of groups and individuals.
Ability to work with interruptions and to meet deadlines.

Rate of pay:
$26.99/hour plus a comprehensive benefit package.
