There is an opening in Grande Prairie Lumber for a Predictive Maintenance Technician.

The primary intent of this role is to safely make improvements which will affect the overall reliability of the mill.

The key goal is to increase throughput, maintain quality and reduce overall maintenance costs.

This role will report to the Reliability Team Leader.

There is an option to work a hour or - 8 hour shift schedule. There is also an expectation to work a percentage of overtime as determined by business and team needs.

Role Description:

Perform data collection on rotating equipment and structural systems
Diagnose internal defects from vibration spectra and time waveforms, understand forcing functions and bearing raceway fault frequencies
Understand the instruments used in data acquisition and field hardware
Maintain field hardware, test bias voltages, troubleshoot and repair component as required
Troubleshoot equipment defects on motors, pumps, couplings, gearboxes & highspeed arbors
Be able to recognize imbalance, misalignment, looseness, and resonance in rotating equipment.
Be able to differentiate vibration level changes due to process changes.
Have a thorough understanding of the vibration software and be able to make database modifications.
Be able to do a risk assessment of machinery condition.
Perform dynamic field and stand balancing to an ISO G1.0 Grade in two planes
Take corrective actions to optimize component life. Enter work requests and activity notifications in SAP as required
Use real time analyzer mode to study effects of varying conditions, including phase analysis, coast down testing, resonance testing & Peakvue technology
Perform Thermal Imagining and identify localized hotspots or other changes in equipment baseline temperatures
Provide coverage for other team members as required

Qualifications

Skill Requirements:

Ability to meet all Team Norms and Standards, specifically in safety performance and maintaining a low absence level.
Behavior consistent with the Safety Vision and the Site Principles.
The willingness, flexibility and ability to acquire new skills as business needs change.
The ability to work effectively with others.
The ability to take initiative for the completion of their work tasks and skill development.
A positive attitude geared towards reliability and the success of the mill/maintenance team.
Computer skills/SAP, and able achieve a competent level of understanding of Process Logic Control (PLC).
Problem solving which will require indepth trouble shooting skills.
Interface with other trades, support groups and other resources as required i.e. Support Groups, Operations and Leadership
Coach and train to improve the skills of teammates.
Preference will be given to individuals with demonstrated leadership and initiative in other assignments

Qualifications:

Preference will be given to Individuals having a strong knowledge of Grande Prairie Lumber with proven maintenance and leadership skills.
Certified Journeyman Millwright
Proven ability to work with mínimal supervision
Experience working with other departments as necessary to ensure equipment is kept up to standards: (Rebuilds, Saws and Knifes, Electrical, Planning, Mechanical)
