Berwick on the Lake retirement community is looking for a
Resident Care Aide ( Multiservice Worker ) who is reliable, authentic, and excited to make a difference in the lives of people. Hours of Work:

Casual - Hours will be as needed.


Pay:

Pay starts at
$28.74 (includes provincial wage subsidy), plus shift differentials per hour as applicable.

Position Summary:


Under the supervision of the Operations Support Manager, and under the clinical direction of the Corporate Clinical Resource Manager, the Multi-Service Worker - RCA provides the assistance of activities of daily living for independent Berwick residents.

The Multi-Service Worker - RCA will be assigned in areas of administration completing a variety of duties and tasks within the residence.

The Multi-Service Worker - RCA will act in a manner conducive to resident safety, comfort, and dignity, while maintaining choice, independence, and individuality.

The Multi-Service Worker - RCA is aware of and conforms to Assisted Living Registrar requirements and applicable internal policies related to Enhanced Living Services.

The Multi-Service Worker - RCA maintains regular appropriate communication with residents, family members, and pharmacy partners as required.

The Multi-Service Worker - RCA will collaborate with the General Manager, Operations Coordinator, Corporate Clinical Resource Manager, and various team members.


The Multi-Service Worker - RCA will be a flexible individual who enjoys multitasking and displays high energy, with the ability to encourage a comfortable, home-like environment for residents, team members, families, and visitors.

Encourages and adheres to a holistic philosophy of wellness, recognizing that each resident is capable of, to varying degrees; making decisions about his/her life and is a partner in the decision-making process.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Graduate from a recognized Residential Care Aide Program
  • Medication Administration Certificate
  • Food Safe Level 1 Certificate if handling or serving food
  • Trained in handling emergency situations such as power outages, fire, earthquake, and medical emergencies
  • Ability to use computer and applicable software, such as Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of the intent, philosophy, and core values of Enhanced Living when planning and delivering personal care and hospitality services
  • Experienced in the field of geriatrics, Enhanced Living, and residential care
  • Ability to work well with seniors, their families and the public
  • Tact, sound judgment, confidentiality, patience, reliability and the ability to treat and guide staff and residents with respect and dignity
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions with mínimal supervision
  • Ability to work with staff, as a team is essential
  • Good observational and recording skills
  • Valid Emergency Level 1 First Aid Certificate and CPR
  • WHMIS
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently, and understand verbal and written instructions
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with the various individuals involved in providing holistic care and service in a flexible resident focused environment
  • Must be in good health, physically able to perform repetitive tasks, lift, squat, bend, stand and walk as required to perform the duties of the position
  • Understanding of the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, and the Assisted Living Regulations.
  • Polite, courteous, and must work well with seniors and the public
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy and patience when working with residents and staff

Emergency Response Duties:


Follows established policies and protocols to provide initial emergency response in the event of a power outage, earthquake, fire, silent fire drill or resident emergency.

Assess situation, provides assistance where appropriate, and contacts medical personnel/911 when required.

Note:
A criminal record check is required pursuant to the Criminal Records Review Act for working with vulnerable adults. Current TB test also required as well as proof
