What will I be doing?

  • Performs complete start to closeout project management on selected complex, highrisk projects as required to meet corporate commitments, with or without staff delegation.
  • Manages project progress and coordinates utility works to ensure that project timelines, budgets, agreements, commercial requirements, and work activities are identified, planned, reviewed, and executed as per contractual requirements. Identifies deficiencies and/or opportunities for efficiencies and recommends and implements preferred solutions.
  • Represent Utilities as a technical specialist at meetings and provides specialist advice as a Subject Matter Expert on utility coordination and relocation matters (dry and wet utilities e.g., gas, communications, power, sewers, water mains, etc.).
  • Oversee the coordination, monitoring, tracking, and reporting of all utilityrelated interfaces with municipalities, utility companies, permits, licenses, investigations, agreements, and all approval stakeholders across the project.
  • Support thirdparty utility owners to develop strategies that define the required scope, schedule, and cost required to support the Subways Program. Work alongside project delivery teams to provide constructible designs.
  • Liaise and manage thirdparty utility project progress, analyze current and future work activities to identify deficiencies and opportunities for efficiencies; and recommend and implement solutions during proposed utility relocation activities.
  • Monitors project safety to mitigate risk, ensure compliance with policies and procedures, and initiate improvements, resolutions, and/or preventative measures.
  • Integrates multiple corporate requirements into projects, including technical design, environmental assessment conditions, community and municipal commitments, Passenger Charter, design excellence, and property acquisition conditions, analyzing potential conflicts, delays, or issues resulting from the integration of corporate requirements with the overall project plan.
  • Manage relationships with external consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure performance and products/services meet contractual agreements; conduct regular site meetings to discuss progress and resolve issues.
  • Monitors project work to warranty that the proper protection is followed in accordance with railway operating rules.
  • Directly manages 25 employees in project teams performing related tasks.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Demonstrated project management experience related to the planning, design, and construction of transit facilities, station infrastructure, and/or complex utility relocationrelated works.
  • Experience in construction management, procurement, and field engineering are all strong assets.
  • Completion of a degree in applied science, engineering, or a related discipline or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Project management experience to manage assigned projects of high value and complexity and supervise staff engaged in all stages of project management from start to closeout.
  • Technical knowledge of the principles and practices of the transportation industry is an asset.
  • Organizational, interpersonal, and oral/written/presentation communication skills to coordinate complex projects under pressure to meet schedule and budget commitments.
  • Experience in a consulting/professional services environment is an asset.
  • A valid Ontario Class G driver's license is required to travel to various site locations, meetings, operational facilities, etc. (approximately 5%). Must meet and maintain the corporate standard for a good driving record.
