_ Manufacturing Technician Job Description_

Overall Responsibility:


Set automated machinery or equipment controls, responsible for monitoring and inspecting the quality of all products and processes in the assigned work area.

Making minor adjustments to machinery ensuring consistent quality of goods.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Tend to automated manufacturing equipment; including robotics and fixed automation equipment.
  • Evaluate the operation of automated manufacturing equipment, including robotics and fixed automation equipment to ensure efficiency of the production of automotive parts.
  • Collect and analyze data to support quality assurance.
  • Ensure the QMS (Quality Management System) conforms to the requirements identified in IATF 16949 and AMTB's Process Map.
  • Interpret and understand machine readouts and adjust settings to accommodate for material variance, quality requirements and thresholds.
  • Conduct regular quality inspections to ensure a good quality product based on predetermined standards and requirements.
  • Assist with machine changeovers, operating overhead cranes to change machine fixtures, and assisting with setting up preprogrammed automation systems.
  • Record accurate production data in computerized systems (parts per hour, scrap, downtime, part traceability).
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for production processes and/or methods by providing constructive input through onepoint lessons and other initiatives.
  • Independently conduct thorough preshift work cell inspections ensuring the machine is in good working order and all safety or production concerns are reported or handled before machine startup.
  • Fulfill all Health and Safety & Environmental responsibilities as identified in the HSE Management Standards, ISO 14001 & 45001 Management Systems.

Required Experience and Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Some college or certification in manufacturing or technology seen as an asset.
  • 6+ months' work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience utilizing visual work instructions to complete a task independently.
  • General mathematical skills are required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous exposure to robotic or automated manufacturing.
  • Knowledge or exposure to welding is considered an asset.
  • Exposure to ISO14001 and TS16949 standards
  • Experience participating in World Class Manufact
