Position Summary:


  • Responsible and accountable for decisions and actions in the provision and management of patient care, providing crisis intervention services in the Emergency Department
  • Coordinating follow up services with relevant community resources
  • Practitioner, consultant and educator for appropriate patient groups and health care team members
  • Provide written assessment and treatment recommendations

Qualifications:


  • Registered in good standing with OCSWSSW and eligible for membership with OASW
  • Experience in individual, couple and family counselling essential
  • Previous clinical mental health experience in an acute care hospital setting is required
  • Sound knowledge of mental health disorders, DSM IVR classifications and pertinent legislation
  • Sound knowledge of mental status evaluations, psychosocial assessments, suicide and violence risk assessments, psychiatric history taking, and discharge planning
  • Comfortable working within a multidisciplinary team, under pressure and within a changing environment
  • Skilled working with a broad range of client groups and their significant supports
  • Able to maintain timely and thorough documentation
  • Working knowledge of community resources
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Reliable, flexible and positive team player
