Monday - Friday | 9am - 5pm

Provide great service, specific expertise and actionable advice to support Associate-Owners and their staff in delivering the best health, beauty and convenience services to Canadians.

Why this role is important? We are hiring a Co-op Students, Pharmacy Operations Optimization and Strategy.

You will be accountable for supporting the Senior Manager, Pharmacy Services with is responsible for coordinating and managing core pharmacy initiatives, reporting on pharmacy performance and workload planning from an operational pharmacy perspective.

The student may also support the Innovation portfolio on strategic projects that will help shape the Future of Pharmacy, and pharmacy practice across the Shoppers Drug Mart and Loblaw Enterprise.

This role will also lead the ongoing optimization and development of Continuing Education for Pharmacy Professionals, allowing for successful training and execution of new pharmacy initiatives.


The role will report to the Senior Manager, Pharmacy Operations and will be supported by cross-functional groups to ensure delivery of the approved strategy, programs and financial plan.

This role is a significant liaison between Central Office departments, store teams and external stakeholders.


What You'll Do:

  • Support the development, analysis, communication and execution of pharmacy initiatives.
  • Assist in the delivery of pharmacy related initiatives that drive pharmacy performance
  • Looks for opportunities for continuous improvement to optimize instore pharmacy processes to improve performance, efficiencies & productivity.
  • Lead the development of content for the weekly national pharmacy operations update, content for field resources on the biweekly national operations call, quarterly meetings (VP and Peers), and national meetings.
  • Responsible for the development of Continuing Education modules, to continue to drive pharmacy development in an evolving clinical pharmacy practice environment
  • Support with planning the annual Shoppers Drug Mart Pharmacist Conference
  • Track, measure and report on uptake of all Professional Development programs
  • Have a significant role in the research, recommendations, implementation, and sustainment of store level pharmacy operations in new innovative clinical settings.
  • Collaborate with Central Office stakeholders to ensure operational excellence is adhered to, with the introduction of new and updated initiatives that meet pharmacy practice standards
  • Collaborate with technology partners (internally and externally) to effectively help patients and pharmacy team members manage preventative care and wellness services for better patient outcomes and satisfaction
  • Implement new business growth opportunities as needed

What You'll Need:

  • Completing a university degree in Business, Healthcare, Economics, Finance or Marketing; MBA or equivalent Master degree is an asset
  • Prior work experience in Healthcare, Consulting, Product Development, Strategy, Business Development and/or Pharmacy experience preferred
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships at all levels of the organization to move projects forward; actively engaging internal and external stakeholders
  • Analytical skills, with the ability to translate data insights into workable solutions. Consistently exercises sound judgement, ability to assimilate information from many different sources and come up with sound strategic options.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to convey new concepts in a clear, stepwise and motivational approach
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity, ability to multitask, and work in a fastpaced environment
  • Project management skills and ability to work with various teams, often in a project lead role and across multiple provinces, detailoriented with strong planning skills.
