What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:

plan, prepare tenders and administer road maintenance and Regional contracts

- perform inspections and administration, including warranty requirements for highway Regional contracts, including In Scope Minor Capital contained in the Area Maintenance Contract
- provide technical and administrative support to ensure contract delivery

Technical expertise:

You have demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles related to highway construction, maintenance, and road design.
You have demonstrated knowledge of contract preparation, tendering practices, administration and the monitoring of warranties throughout the duration of a contract.
You have knowledge of relevant legislation and policies pertaining to the preparation of tenders, contract administration and contract payments.
You have demonstrated knowledge of construction safety methods and practices.
You have the ability to read and interpret contract documents and plans.
You have demonstrated knowledge of financial reporting procedures to maintain records, monitor budgets and forecast expenditures.

Analytical, evaluative and decision-making skills:

You have the demonstrated knowledge to review, recommend and identify road rehabilitation alternatives.
You have proven analytical, evaluation and decisionmaking skills to assess alternatives, evaluate tender submissions and recommend technical solutions.

Communication and interpersonal skills:

You have proven communication and interpersonal skills to use tact and diplomacy when interacting with both internal and external stakeholders.
You have proven technical writing skills to produce technical reports, correspondence, specifications and contract documents.
You can establish and maintain effective working relationships.
You can negotiate design and contract language on behalf of the ministry in a productive and constructive manner.
