Pay Rate:
$21.00 an hour. We also offer access to our superb sport, fitness, and recreational facilities.

The Position:


Reporting to the Manager, Post-Rehabilitation & Health and working with the Supervisor, Post-Rehabilitation & Health, the primary responsibility of the Health Program Instructor will be to implement group exercise classes and disseminate education resources throughout all AC Health programs.

AC Health programs bridge the gap between clinic to community, providing individuals who have recently been discharged from inpatient/outpatient services with a specialized group exercise program in a community setting.

This ensures exercise is person-centered as individuals continue along their therapeutic journey towards optimal health and quality of life.


AC Health programs includes:
TIME, RCM, Virtual Fitness For Breath, etc.


The Health Program Instructor will also be responsible for accurately collecting impact data for AC's research team and report on participant progress on a continual basis.

The Health Program Instructor will support the Supervisor, Post-Rehabilitation & Health in promoting participation in inclusive activities offered at Abilities Centre, such as fitness, sport, and recreation programs.

The Health Program Instructor will collaborate with other departments for next step planning to identify transition pathways that align with participant goals.


What You'll Do:


  • Instruct. You will instruct health classes to small and large groups daily and enhance program experience by keeping participants engaged and encouraged during health classes. You will participate in the ongoing education of participants within the scope of the programs, as well as set up and take down for the health classes. You will exercise creativity and innovation to assist the Supervisor, Post-Rehabilitation & Health in delivery of high caliber health classes.
  • Administration. You will support the Manager, Post-Rehabilitation & Health in achieving monthly funding targets by recording relevant data and metrics. You will use strong problemsolving skills and are able to pivot services as needed. You will perform other duties as assigned. You will attend staff meetings and assist with administrative activities as needed.

What You'll Bring:


  • Education and Experience. You are attending or are a graduate of university or college program in Kinesiology, Physical Education, or Fitness related field.
You are required to have one of the following:
Registration as a Kinesiologist (R. Kin), Personal Training Certification (CPT) from CSEP, or other equivalent certifications that qualify you as a fitness professional. You have more than one year's experience teaching groups or personal training.

  • The Professional Skills. You have excellent communication skills and strong writing skills. You have a keen attention to detail and can manage multiple demands through welldeveloped organizational and time management skills. You are an effective team player with a positive attitude, interacting well with participants, families, and fellow employees. You are selfmotivated, results oriented, can show initiative, and are able to work independently without close supervision. You are proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • The Availability. You are available to work weekdays. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required.
  • The Administrative Requirements. You are required to have a current, clear criminal record check for the vulnerable sector from the last 6 months, as well as up to date First Aid and CPR 'C' / AED certification.
