As ATB's next Pension Consultant, **you will oversee and provide accurate, professional, governance and administration of ATB's management pension plans (Defined Benefit, Defined Contribution and Supplemental Retirement Plans) and the Public Service Pension Plan. This position focuses on ensuring the pension programs are designed and delivered in compliance with regulatory requirements and are integrated across program areas while aligning with overall business strategies and priorities.

  • Ensures accuracy of pension plan contributions and disbursements including payroll deductions, and remittances are made to appropriate trust accounts
  • Communicates with plan actuary, pension trustee and Alberta Pension Services in regards to pension administration, ensuring terminations, retirement and Combined Pensionable Service benefits are calculated in accordance with plan documentation and regulations
  • Develops agenda and supporting materials, coordinate meetings, followup and implement action items that arise from the quarterly pension committee meetings. Assists with board material preparation related to pension plans.
  • Projects financial funds to ensure no shortfalls
  • Leads yearend processes with record keeper (Sun Life), plan actuary and Alberta Pension Services to ensure accuracy of pensionable earnings, service, pension contributions and pension adjustments. Signs off on pension plan data for plan actuary. Works with external auditors on pension plan audits
  • Authorizes topup payments
  • Prepares Annual Information Return (AIR) for the plan
  • Ensures delivery of annual pension statements
  • Leads pension plan communication processes
  • Responds to queries from pension plan members

Requirements:


  • Business degree with specialization in human resources management or human resources certificate/diploma
  • Strong background in pensions, including at least 6 years of experience, with a significant emphasis on benefit and pension plan design and policy
  • Clearly express ideas both verbally and in writing. The ability to build strong working relationships within the team and ATB
  • Strong understanding of the Google Suite and how these tools can help to create efficient processes
  • Strong ability set priorities, manage multiple tasks, followup and allocate time
