Unity Health Toronto is embarking on a multi-year digital, clinical transformation project to implement a new electronic patient record solution across all sites.

The Electronic Patient Record (EPR) project is a pillar of enabling exemplary patient experience and quality of care and therefore see this not as an information technology initiative, but as one founded in clinical transformation and care redesign.


Please note that this position commences from July 15, January 31, 2025.

Job Profile

Main Responsibilities
Effectively Deliver Training of EPR system

  • Conduct synchronous training sessions utilizing adult learning principles, advanced presentation and instruction skills, for endusers both inperson and through virtual platforms, ensuring that participants are actively engaged and grasp the concepts.
  • Collaborate with Principal Trainers to support development and maintenance of training materials such as classroom information sheets, PowerPoint slides, quick start guides and tip sheets based on updates, system upgrades, and class participant feedback.
  • Adapt training techniques to accommodate different learning styles and skill levels, making the learning experience interactive, effective and accessible to all participants.
  • Articulate and teach use of clinical systems for maximum knowledge translation across groups of differing experience/expertise, with varying digital skill levels
  • Facilitate handson exercises and simulations to reinforce practical skills and boost confidence in using the EPR system.
Mastering content and monitoring the effectiveness of training programs

  • Successfully pass the credentialing panel by teaching a portion of a class as assigned by a Principal Trainer.
  • Learn various clinical and administrative workflows within Unity Health to comprehend how the EPR system integrates with daily tasks and processes for the courses assigned to teach.
Support Training Coordination and Operational Effectiveness

  • Assist in the development of training schedules and coordination of training sessions for various roles across Unity Health Toronto.
  • Construct well thoughtout decisions on complex or ambiguous issues with support of the Principal Trainers.
  • Meet timelines and milestones for all assigned work and escalated delays or challenges appropriately.
  • Remain flexible in supporting unscheduled training request as needed.
Go-Live Support

  • Be a visible and accessible presence onsite during the golive period to provide immediate assistance and address user questions and concerns.
  • Follow up when training and or content support requests are assigned via service ticket.
  • Offer realtime support for users facing challenges or encountering difficulties while using the EPR system.
  • Employ deep understanding of the system to identify issues and provide quick solutions.
  • Reassure endusers by offering handson guidance and encouragement as they navigate the system in a live environment.
  • Remain composed and effective in highpressure situations, particularly when addressing urgent user issues that impact patient care or operational workflows.

Qualifications:


  • Completion of Diploma and/or Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare, Health Informatics, healthcare, Health Administration, Education or related field or recognized equivalent
  • One or more years of Adult training/teaching and or writing training documentation
  • Previous EPR experience and or Clinical background is preferred
  • Minimum two or more years of technical proficiency in using training software, LMS, Roster Management, Microsoft office suite

Successful completion of the vendor training certification program is a requirement for continued employment in this role.
