Job Summary
The Reservation Associate is responsible for carrying out daily coordination of domestic and OSM Intermodal reservations at CN.

The role ensures adequate reservations and gate appointments are provided and that traffic is protected for maximum daily capacity with minimum left-behinds and optimized slot utilization.

The incumbent collaborates with team members across multiple Intermodal groups to plan, prioritize, and optimize train movement across the network.

The position is also accountable for ensuring continued stakeholder engagement.


Main Responsibilities
Reservation Execution

  • Collaborate with Intermodal Planning Team to ensure efficient capacity is provided as well as loading of traffic per reservation and block requirements daily
  • Support daily execution of train plan
  • Collaborate closely with terminals on priority loading
  • Collaborate closely with Planning team on daily block plans, including prioritizing customer requirements and terminal capacity
  • Monitor vessel cutoffs and prioritization of terminals
  • Adjust and communicate daily loading across the Intermodal Network and various Intermodal groups
  • Manage reservations without compromising leftbehinds
  • Optimize train and slot utilization across the network
  • Communicate reservations and leftbehinds internally and externally
  • Coordinate priority loading with terminals across the network
  • Reduce carter wait time by monitoring and providing gate appointments for the carter community when applicable
  • Recognize customers that are producing no shows or late cancellations per RV compliance, and resolve in a timely manner
Stakeholder Engagement

  • Ensure stakeholders understand and are able to execute daily plans for the entire network
  • Focus on bridging gaps and maximizing synergy within overall supply chain
  • Manage and maintain relationships, communication and collaboration with customers, including Intermodal Terminals, Intermodal Planning, and customer service groups
  • Provide adequate RVs and gate appointments for customers and carters while maintaining fluidity and safety within Intermodal terminals
Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The incumbent must be available to work shifts and weekends if necessary. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and manage stress


Requirements:

Experience

Transportation or Logistics

  • Minimum 2 years of transportation or logistics planning experience
  • Experience interacting with customers
  • Experience in logistics management
  • Experience with CN's Intermodal network
  • Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset
Education/Certification/Designation

  • Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in Transportation, Logistics, Business Administration, or equivalent

Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Transportation, Intermodal Operations, Logistics and Supply Chain systems
  • General Microsoft computer skills including Excel and MS Access
  • Knowledge of CN Systems including Service Reliability System (SRS), Right Time Business Intelligence (RTBI), Oasis and Pegasus
  • Working knowledge of terminal and yard operations
  • Any knowledge for any of the above would be considered as an asset
