Green Bean Operator

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Sample green beans received. Oversees green bean unloading crews.
  • Comply with all Plant GMP and Health and Safety rules
  • Provide for direct reporting to the Process Supervisor
  • Ensure Quality standards are met according to Mother Parker's Tea & Coffee specifications
  • Unload the green beans from the trailers in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Unload green coffees from trailers into a vacuum system that feeds the storage bunkers.
  • Follow proper verification procedures for green receiving and trailer
  • Perform sampling procedures of green beans received
  • Inform control room of green bean types received
  • Evaluate the condition of trailers and loads to be received
  • Assign truck delivery bills of lading
  • Perform green bean unloading duties when not receiving
  • Maintain clear, concise and detailed records
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner, practice safe handling techniques
  • Operates unloader
  • Open green bean bags by cutting stitching on the bag with a knife
  • Pull/drag bags to unloader (approx. 150lb bags)
  • Must successful complete work instructions for associated work centers and applicable standard operating procedures
  • Responsible to report food safety problems and/or quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate actions.
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Grade 12 Graduate, Post-Secondary education an asset
Current Fork Lift license, with safe driving record
Minimum One Year experience as an unloader
Capable of climbing into and exiting trailers from ground level
Able to climb into a trailer and reach up for green coffee bags
Able to pull and drag green bean sacks up to 160 pounds, with occasional lifting
Able to lift/drag heavy weights (minimum 132 lbs)
Able to identify rejection Green Bean sacks and Trailer conditions
Must be able to operate Forklift carrying load In and out of trailer
Able to do basic simple calculations
Must be able to climb ladders and work in fairly high places
Work safely outdoors in all weather conditions
Good interpersonal, communication and team-working abilities
Demonstrated safe work habits and good work ethic
Able to work at a steady and repetitive pace
Willingness to work in a team environment
Able to take direction from both written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively
Knowledge of Health Safety & Environment, SQF Quality and Food Safety, WSIB
Successful completion of training and qualification on specific work centers
