Forklift Operator

Basic Accountability:


The Forklift Operator will maintain/contribute to production levels, participate in a team environment and work in a warehouse environment in the safest, most efficient and profitable manner as possible.


Nature and Scope:


Under the guidance of the Supply Chain Supervisor, the Forklift Operator will conduct the daily operations in one of the various positions in Supply Chain.

The Operator will be able to be trained on the five operator rate positions in the department as skill and ability is gained.


  • Carry out applicable position responsibilities in a manner that provides for a safe working environment for CGC employees.
  • Efficiently build crates for Specialty products
  • Utilize Oracle to receive orders and print labels
  • Operate a forklift in a safety manner
  • Ensure all safety guidelines are being followed and enforced in accordance with current legislative requirements and CGC policy.
  • Exercise personal safety, promote and enforce safety among fellow crew members.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties, as required.
  • Develop and maintain good employee morale and working relationships within the department and with other departments in the organization.
  • Assist with Department to meet or exceed plant goals in waste/scrap.
  • Assist with the implementation of the RPM Program including supporting, scheduling and maintaining all rules and procedures related to the Supply Chain's RPM initiative.
  • Assist in the implementation of USG/CGC Model Programs, Safety Rules, VWIs/JSAs and Standard Operating Procedures, as required.
  • Carry out special projects and assignments as directed by Management.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Forklift license and previous forklift experience is required
  • Experience in a warehouse environment preferred
  • Demonstrates problemsolving skills and the ability to work as a team
  • Demonstrates ability to adapt to changing business conditions to support needs of department
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must be a people and resultsoriented individual who incorporates and emphasizes safety and quality in all aspects of the daily work environment
  • Able to work flexible hours and all shifts.
