The Opportunity
This position works out of our Mississauga location in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division.

We're focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions.

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for developing and implementing the national and regional strategies for the private payer market to optimize access of Abbott products in the private markets.
  • Collaborate, develop and manage strategic relationships and twoway communication with the private payers to develop and execute critical private payer strategies and tactics.
  • Highly knowledgeable about the political, economic and social factors affecting private markets policy decision making.
  • Support the National Market Access Manager in the development of Private Payer Submission Dossiers including the Clinical package and Budget Impact Analyses.
  • Participate in the development of company positions and strategies for advocating positions with different key stakeholders.
  • Develop national Stakeholder Relations strategies and trustworthy relationships with private markets (including private drug/health plan managers) and patient associations to proactively support reimbursement objectives and gain access to intelligence regarding the changing reimbursement landscape and health care environment.
  • Identify opportunities for the development and execution of private payer education forums including logistics, vendor management and speaker preparation.
  • Monitor and anticipate changing market conditions with private payers at the national and regional levels and effectively disseminate information to optimize organizational understanding of reimbursement trends on an ongoing basis.
  • Support financial analyses related to product listing agreements.
  • Proactively collaborate with internal customers to anticipate, develop and implement strategies addressing pricing and reimbursement issues.
  • Proactively educate and advise internal customers on market changes related to private insurance and the implications on public insurance.
  • Develop, with Market Access teams, product value messages and supporting materials focused on key external payer stakeholders.
  • Regular communication with all payers and payer stakeholders to describe the value of product and positive impact on patient and to employers.
  • Development of data analysis, leveraging external data vendors and presentation of these findings to internal/external stakeholders.
  • Promote Abbott as a leader in the industry and a strong partner of private payers to positively shape our business environment, consistent with customer needs

Required Qualifications

  • BSc/BA required; science degree is preferred
  • Minimum 810 years private payer experience
  • Strong ability to be diplomatic and persuasive when dealing with complex situations
  • Established external stakeholder network
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing innovative strategies for unique challenges with successful outcomes
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to confidently align others to the vision of the private payer strategy
  • Ability to manage complexity and prioritize activities in a fastpaced environment
  • Demonstrated adaptability in changing environments
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to think critically, innovatively and have strong business acumen
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to partner effectively both within and outside of the organization
  • Independent and innovative
  • Bilingual (written and spoken) English and French, an asset
  • Highly motivated selfstarter with ability to perform in a fastpaced, everchanging environment
  • PC literate including Word, PowerPoint, Excel skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (~10%+)
