Miller Maintenance proudly provides maintenance services on Maintenance Contracts for the Ministry of Transportation throughout the province of Ontario.

This seasonal position has the potential to become permanent with Miller Maintenance.


As a Winter Patroller, You Will:

  • Promote, lead, and execute a Safety-First culture for all employees, sub-contractors, and consultants in compliance with Miller Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) polices and ensure contractual HSE obligation for the staff and public are met
  • Perform road maintenance activities on provincial highways
  • Respond to emergency situations such as spills, accidents, inclement weather and assist in implementing an emergency plan
  • Provide traffic control at accident scenes, including set up and take down of traffic control signs
  • Complete diary, daily electronic timesheets, and other various paperwork required
  • Rightofway debris and litter picking
  • Respond to public complaints
  • Inspect patrols and create deficiency lists for foreperson
  • Make snow and ice control decisions during winter and initiate equipment and operator call outs Operate a variety of equipment
  • Conduct daily circle checks on vehicles; clean and maintain vehicles and perform equipment maintenance as required
  • Other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring:


  • Experience in snow and ice control along with knowledge of OTM book 7, considered an asset
  • Effective communication skills to accurately document daily activities, incident reports and deficiency logs
  • Excellent team player to work productively in a highly functional team
  • Ability to remain flexible with shift schedules, and extended hours (evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays)
  • Knowledge of highway maintenance considered an asset
  • Willingness to work and drive in extreme weather conditions
  • Willingness to learn and appreciate company values
