Description

Reporting to the Manager of Student Information Services (SIS) & Prospect and Applicant Relationship (PAR) Teams, the Data Analyst works closely with the manager, coordinators, team members and ITS, Marketing & Communication, and information asset content owners to develop insights related to the performance of information assets and SIS/PAR business processes.

They do this by combining data from numerous sources, such as Enterprise Data Warehouse, , ServiceNow, SalesForce, Campus Solutions, GeneSys, to produce meaningful analyses and actionable insights.

These insights are key to improving the student service experience at NAIT.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Query or request queries from source systems, such as , ServiceNow, SalesForce, Campus Solutions, GeneSys. Identify the correct fields, and potentially tables and relationships in these requests. Have a clear understanding of the meaning of each row returned in the query. Identify the appropriate keys. Cleanse the data of any formatting and data quality issues. Transform the data into an appropriate reporting schema, such as a star schema. Maintain metadata and data definitions.
  • Explore data visualizations to identify key insights. This includes identification of poor performance, and deeper analysis to uncover the root cause of performance issues.

Skills & Abilities:


  • Basic knowledge of Power BI.
  • Knowledge of data functions in Excel.
  • Knowledge of business intelligence fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of data visualization best practice.
  • Ability to perform data storytelling.
  • Ability to communicate in business language with business stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret and explain data insights to a nontechnical audience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of crossfunctional teams.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn when facing new problems or situations.
  • Courage to express what needs to be said.

Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary degree, in a related field required.
  • Data Analyst certification required.
  • 23 years of experience working with data or other diverse business process systems preferably in a postsecondary environment preferred.
  • Experience in presenting data to a variety of audiences preferred.
  • Equivalencies will be considered.

Remuneration:
$2, $3,613.98 biweekly, plus a comprehensive benefits package (classification - Advisor/Specialist II).

  • This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement_
