The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓/Langara College is seeking a qualified applicant to fill the following opening for an instructor in the Summer 2024 semester to teach: one in-person section of Sociology 1127: Introduction to Social Problems.

This course takes place in person at Langara College on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30-14:20. There is the possibility of additional part-time work in future semesters.

This is an introductory sociology course that examines the social structures and processes involved in personal and institutional problems in Canadian society.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum completed Master's degree in Sociology.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Demonstration of excellent ability in instructional approach, practice and competency, including educational technologies, documented success using creative and engaging content delivery, efficient course design and accessible delivery to a diverse range of students
Passion for teaching sociology and working with students at the first and second year levels
Ensure effective use of available class time, and maintain appropriate office hours to ensure availability for student consultation
Maintain collegial working relationships including effective communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and actively contributing to a positive workplace culture
As appropriate, actively seek opportunities to integrate students and learning into relevant community organizations
On an as needed basis, participate actively in program design and review
Be a positive and active contributor to the _Sociology and Anthropology Department_, the Faculty of Social Sciences & Management, and the College

Salary Range:
Salary placement is on Langara instructors' salary scale in accordance with qualifications and experience.
