The Opportunity


In this role, you will be responsible for providing support for the development of technical information products such as product user manuals (Installation, Assembly, Operation, Maintenance manuals).

You will be learning the fundamentals of the job and will be demonstrating this during the course of your daily activities.

This role is perfect for someone interested in learning the company and learning the position as a 'first job' in technical publications.


The Team


Reporting to the Technical Publications Manager, you will work closely with a dynamic team of technical professionals to create consistent content aligned with AGI standards.


Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development of technical information products under the supervision of more senior staff, as assigned by their manager.
  • Produce high quality, accurate, and userfriendly content that meets the needs of the target audience and sets endusers up for success.
  • Assist in the evaluation of current content and recommends logical approaches for improvement.
  • Make revisions and conversions to existing manuals, to standardize and consolidate information across product lines.
  • Strive to develop a deep understanding of products and services over time.
  • Demonstrate a highly professional attitude (polite, courteous, assertive).
  • Take assigned timelines and hours seriously, completes work on schedule, within budgeted hours.
  • Provide reasonable advance notice of project timelines at risk.
  • Follow team policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualification

  • A postsecondary degree in an applicable discipline (communications, language, professional writing, multimedia/Illustration design, Engineering/related technical) or equivalent experience.
  • 12 years' experience, or a combination of education and experience in technical communications. Experience in the agricultural equipment / industrial equipment sector is an asset. Experience developing software user guides is also an asset.
  • Understanding of content development (instructional, technical, written, visual, multimedia).
  • Exceptional English communication skills demonstrated verbally and in writing.
  • Good knowledge of publication / information development, editorial processes, and workflow.
  • A commitment to the needs of the end user (helping customers and partners accomplish their goals and build their businesses is our main objective).
  • Practice good judgement and makes appropriate decisions, referring regularly to more senior staff for guidance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.

  • A track record of delivering in a fastpaced environment where requirements and scope can change quickly.
  • Experience working in an XML authoring/publishing environment (e.g. DITA XML, Arbortext) is an asset.
  • Strong abilities in developing content (instructional, technical, written, visual, multimedia).
