Centennial Center for Mental Health and Brain Injury is a 325-bed active treatment facility for the treatment of patients with psychiatric disorders and brain injury.

CCMHBI has three distinct programs. Adult Inpatient Program, Seniors Mental Health Program, and the Halvar Johnson Center for Brain Injury.

On site is the Dave Russell Education Complex supports a satellite campus for Grant McEwan in the training of future Registered Psychiatric Nurses.

The facility is in Ponoka, Alberta situated half an hour from Red Deer and an hour to Edmonton. Ponoka is a thriving community with urban amenities in a rural setting. It hosts affordable living with incentives for new residents and businesses.

Ponoka is geared for people with active lifestyles, featuring 10 km of river valley trails, an 18-hole golf course, pool, and hockey arena.

Ponoka is also home to the Ponoka Stampede. Recruitment is underway for Central Services Managers working out of the Central Services Office. These Central Services Managers are key personnel to the facility. They are responsible for all after hour and weekend management decisions related to the overall functioning of the facility.


Description:


Responsibilities include but not limited:

Coordinating and monitoring patient admission/movement by providing guidance and direction in conjunction with the assigned duty doctor and liaising with referring physicians.

Dispatch the Rural mental Health Crisis Response Team [CRT] to rural emergency centers. Provide clinical guidance to staff during the evening, night, or weekend.

Work with the units and the Provincial Staffing Office to ensure adequate resources are available for the safe and effective functioning of the units.

Facilitate the security and maintenance of the facility. The shifts are 8.5 hours during the evening and night and 12.5 on the weekend for days and nights. Each shift you will work with a Main Receptionist and Community Peace Officer.

Required Qualifications:

RPN/RN certification; supplemented by five years of acute nursing with associated management or leadership experience. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required. An excellent attendance record, reliability and personal suitability must be demonstrated through your employment references.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Current BCLS.


Preferred Qualifications:

An understanding of the Alberta Mental Health Act, PCHAD and other relevant legislation. Proficiency in Connect Care and ESP.
