Responsibilities:


How will I impact the business?


As the Associate Vice President, Retirement in the Financial and Retirement Services (FRS) practice you will be responsible for the day-to-day account management with our group retirement clients.

Our approach is warm and our relationships are everything with these client groups.

  • Lead Consultant for a defined block of FRS clients
  • Maintain close relationship with the FRS team and other GBS practices
  • Maintain close relationship with clients and recordkeepers
  • Regularly prepare and deliver succinct and intelligent reports including investment reviews and annual plan reviews
  • Provide product and process expertise in plain language to meet client needs
  • Manage request for proposal and marketing process to provide information and recommendation for selection of appropriate recordkeepers for clients
  • Participate in, and occasionally lead, responses to requests for proposal for new business
  • Involved in business development initiatives for the FRS practice to crosssell through existing clients as well as new prospect opportunities
  • Understand and communicate what can be delegated to the recordkeeper vs. what should be handled by the Consultant
  • Monitor client satisfaction level with recordkeeper and with FRS
  • Proactively monitor service activity against service standards; watch for possible problems and proactively find solutions
  • Creatively devise solutions and facilitate necessary process changes to ensure delivery of timely and efficient client service
  • Proactively present new ideas to improve efficiencies
  • Coordinate and occasionally deliver offsite Retirement Seminars (utilizing the recordkeeper) to educate clients and their employees about fiduciary responsibilities, investment and retirement needs, and pension and tax legislation
  • Provide investment guidance to Plan members either via phone or in person, as required
  • Work with the client and recordkeeper to develop a communication strategy; prepare written communication pieces
  • Evaluate and judge the similarities, differences, and capabilities of the various investment managers and recordkeepers
  • Assist in the development of articles or presentations on industry related trends

Qualifications:

Do I have what it takes to be considered?

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in, institutional retirement plans, and general investment consulting with significant client‐facing exposure is required
  • Undergraduate degree in Math, Business or other related areas
  • CFA, CIPM, ASA, CFP, RPA, CEBS an asset
  • Capital Accumulation Plan experience and knowledge of Canadian pension industry, group retirement and nonregistered savings plans, and pension/investment regulations and legislation (some U.S. knowledge valuable, too)
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Team player; however, able to work independently
  • Willing to be an individual and have fun
  • Strong work ethics
  • Bilingual (French) an asset
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong planning and time management skills
  • Solution minded
