Primary responsibilities of the position include:

  • Participates in service coordination meetings and advocates for client's needs, providing a clinical perspective.
  • Helps to identify external formal and informal supports to support the treatment plan and youth's development
  • Participates in client case conferences and contributes to /reviews final reports prior to them being sent to Child and Family
Services

  • Provides ongoing assessments as required and collaborates and shares findings with treatment team
- treatment plans with clients, milieu treatment staff and coordinator

  • Monitors client response to treatment plan and continuously updates plans as needed
  • Recognizes the importance and value of therapeutic milieu and utilizes it to promote an environment conducive to therapeutic change
  • Monitors environment to evaluate effects pertaining to a structured therapeutic milieu. Consults with treatment team members, devise and implement intervention strategies to affect milieu/groups in a positive manner and record significant milieu issues
  • Participates with other treatment team members in problem solving regarding clinical issues.
  • Provide training to treatment team in behavior/psychological management techniques and provide consultation/support to treatment team to support the necessary skills and competencies to deliver individualized and milieu treatment interventions
  • Participates in the development of the Program and/or Services, principal functions, goals, objectives, policies and standards as required

Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy; or in the progress of completing your masters.
  • Minimum of two years of direct clinical experience working with at risk children and youth; two years experience working with at risk youth including youth who have been sexually exploited preferred
  • Minimum of two years related knowledge and/or experience in treatment planning with experience in the promotion, protection, preservation, care and improvement of the mental health of children and youth with Complex Needs
  • Experience working within a "facility based and or 24/7" services preferred
  • Knowledge of planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment plans
  • Experience in assessing risks and safety and implementing safety plans
  • Experience or knowledge of Trauma Informed Care, Attachment and Resiliency models of care
  • Experience in the provision of therapeutic clinical interventions and effective milieu management
  • Ability to understand and support and practice interdisciplinary teamwork in order to provide services in the clinical, educational or living environment of the children or youth
  • Must be able to work effectively with children and youth, caregivers and families, to supervise and teach others, and to work harmoniously with others
  • Knowledge of community resource identification and utilization
  • Working knowledge of legislative acts governing child welfare is required
  • Ability to handle sensitive system level issues with professionalism.
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle required
  • Emergency First Aid/CPR
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, a Clear Child Abuse Registry Check, and an acceptable Prior Contact Check
  • Excellent physical and emotional health
