Reporting to the Controller of Plant and Planning Services, the Custodial Support Coordinator will be responsible for providing support to Plant Operations Managers ensuring that all facilities meet or exceed Board standards for cleanliness and safety.

The Custodial Support Coordinator will assist with supervision of permanent custodial staff and will be responsible for the supervision of casual caretakers including scheduling, training, and recruitment.

They will perform periodic facility reviews and determine required levels of custodial supplies.

They must be flexible with their work schedule in order to provide onsite support to the afternoon and evening custodial staff.


Qualifications:

Post-Secondary education in a field relevant to the role. Consideration will be given to the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum of four (4) years experience with custodial practices in a public sector setting with progressive experience with custodial supervision

Valid driver's license with access to a vehicle to travel and provide service throughout the district

Strong working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Ontario Fire Code (OFC), WHMIS, Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code and other applicable legislation

Excellent leadership skills with the ability to direct, coach and mentor team members

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work with competing priorities and multiple and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Self-motivated, self-directed, with strong initiative and ability to work effectively both as a member of a team and independently

Experience in a school-based unionized setting will be considered an asset

Knowledge and experience with using lock and key management, automatic door operation, life safety and security alarm monitoring systems will be considered an asset
