The Youth Outreach Worker is responsible for engaging youth accessing the programs, services and facilities at BGC Kawarthas, and acts at a mentor and system navigator for these youth. The Youth Outreach Worker also supports with the facilitation of Targeted Prevention programming at the Club and in the schools. The Youth Outreach Worker reports to the Youth Services Coordinator.

:

Provide support to atrisk youth and connect with Club programs and Community Services.
Provide system navigation and service coordination for youth and their families.
Establish collaborative working partnerships with youth serving agencies, schools, police and healthcare services.
Coordinate and facilitate targeted prevention programming for youth.
Plan and coordinate outreach activities to enhance youth engagement.
Perform administrative duties, including regular documentation and completion of all necessary paperwork.

Qualifications

:

SSW, CYC, CYW or similar education or relevant experience.
ASIST, SafeTalk and Mental Health First Aid Training is an asset.
Current certification in Standard First Aid
Level 'C', and HIGH FIVE Principals of Healthy Child Development.
Strong understanding of local services and supports for youth.
HIGH FIVE Quest 2 an asset or willingness to obtain.
Education in the one of the following disciplines: Recreation, Education, Social Services, and Youth Engagement.
Provide a Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening in accordance with the Police Record Checks Reform Act (PRCRA).

Salary

:

$17.00/ Hour (16 hrs/wk - afternoons and evenings)
