Who We Are:
The Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver course materials and learning assessments in assigned format.
- Utilize Absorb LMS as a delivery platform for online courses.
- Communicate course objectives and specific learning outcomes to students and review the grading policies of the course.
- Implement and enforce program policies relating to grades, attendance, progress, dress and grooming, and safety procedures.
- Evaluate student achievement of specific learning outcomes and discuss progress.
- Participate in required orientations and instructor training programs.
- Attend instructor meetings and program events.
- Supervise student involvement in their online learning, practical handson training and field projects.
- Assist individual students with classroom assignments and skill development to encourage the successful attainment of program standards.
- Assist in planning and coordinating the logistics for program functions, including instruction equipment and supplies; offcampus appointments; special presentations to the students.
- Maintain effective communication and close cooperation with the program manager and other faculty/staff to effectively attain the overall educational objectives of the program.
- When possible, participate in professional development activities.
- Assist students with adjusting to established disciplinary standards, including internalizing the vital moral, ethical, and spiritual values of Omnia, with special emphasis on developing a positive work ethic.
- Perform other duties as may occasionally be assigned by the program manager.
- Postsecondary education is an asset
- Experience in Carpentry and Concrete Finishing
- Experience in construction, HDD drilling is an asset
- Experience in teaching adults is an asset but not required
- Have safety tickets (CSTS, First Aid, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Ground Disturbance) or willing to take these upon employment
- Proficiency in SmartSheet and SiteDocs is an asset
- Proficiency using an LMS is an asset
- Ability to deliver interactive and motivational classroom activities to teach practical techniques and concepts
Requirements:
- Class 5 Driver's license
- Competency to use power tools and hand tools is required
- A reliable vehicle is required
- This position requires the instructor to be onsite
- Ability to stand on your feet for extended periods of time
- English language proficiency
Work conditions:
Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
Full-time contract for 2 years with the possibility of extension
Online, in-person, classroom, and field training
Target students:
young adults, new immigrants, adult learners
