ABOUT THE ROLE


The
Help Ahead Intake Agent, Central Point of Intake is a full-time permanent position that provides a central point of access via multi-media for infants, children, youth, and their families to 23 Children, Youth Mental Health (CYMH) Services in Toronto by identifying need, compiling relevant information, and conducting screening with a standardized tool that helps identify risk and needs to support referrals.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Answer inquiries from children, youth, family members, core service providers, allied sector partners and the broader health care sector regarding accessing child and youth mental health service in the province.
  • Gather basic demographic information of the client, presenting concerns and assess for imminent risk.
  • Invoke Duty to Report if there is an identified or suspected protection concern, notify Supervisor, write a Critical Incident report.
  • Provide information about single session services and support callers in accessing counseling support.
  • For callers identifying interest in single session therapy, provide recommendations and suggestions regarding the single session service (example parent session, over/ under 12 years of age etc.).
  • Identify which clinic is best suited to meet the caller's need for a counselling session once client has consented to a session.
  • Ensure client information is recorded accurately and in accordance with Organizational standards.

THE "MUST HAVES"
The following education, professional memberships and knowledge are a requirement for this role:

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Services.
  • 3 years of experience as an intake worker in mental health and addictions.
  • Knowledge of TREAT client information system.
  • Ability to access information from Database.
  • Crisis Intervention and Management Training.
  • Customer service orientation and strong interpersonal skills would be an asset.
  • Awareness of the role of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and within the community being served by the position.
  • An understanding of antiblack racism, antioppressive/ antiracism perspective in the context of the social determinants of health.
  • Ability to recognize and identify situations where incidents of imbalance of power and privilege may occur and can result in possible negative impacts.

THE 'NICE TO HAVES'

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
  • Knowledge of Cisco IP Phone and Cisco Finesse.
  • Knowledge of Single Session Services
  • Knowledge of CYMH Services/ Hospital Services, ICYMH and allied community resources in Toronto.
  • Knowledge of how to use 211 and other tools to assist with helpful resources for clients (i.e., Food Banks, etc.).
  • Fluency in another language(s), including sign language.
