OVERVIEW


Within the Recovery Room, the Ward Aide is accountable for the delivery of support services that promote patient focused care.

The Ward Aide is responsible for selected duties as they relate to the maintenance of a safe and clean work environment and for selected duties as they relate to patient care.

The Ward Aide is also responsible for specific equipment and supplies as they relate to critical care.


EDUCATION

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to maintain patience, compassion and a courteous manner in all relationships with patients, family and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, public and staff.
  • Demonstrated physical capability to perform duties and carry out responsibilities.
  • Pushing and pulling of heavy equipment
  • Lift and handle 75 pounds
  • Bending and twisting frequent
  • Frequent forward reaching waist to shoulder level
  • Constant standing/walking
  • Must be willing to work in all areas of the health service (skills & abilities considered).
  • Must speak and write English fluently.
  • Good work and attendance record required.
