JOB SUMMARY:


Located in the Marketing and Communications (MAC) Unit, this position plays a key role in ensuring the provision of effective communications advice and support to maintain the brand strategy and strategic direction of RPL.

This position manages relationships with internal clients and provides marketing and communications advice and support as necessary, as well as monitors external trends, issues and opportunities to recommend RPL response/engagement as appropriate.

It develops and executes various strategic communications and/or marketing plans and develops or oversees development of effective, quality communications tools as appropriate.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Keeps current with business and activities throughout the organization and in the community, manages roster of internal clients, and monitors trends and opportunities to recommend/assert timely and effective MAC involvement and support as necessary.
  • Develops strategic communications plans in response to identified need. Manages development of tools for execution, manages rollout of plan, evaluates effectiveness.
  • Helps ensure RPL brand is maintained through provision of strategic communications advice and support to internal clients and staff throughout the organization. Assists in defining and developing RPL style guide, logo etc., educates RPL staff and others and supports their use.
  • Provides oversight on production of communications tools and publications. Includes gathering and collating information from various sources; writing promotional and information content as required; gathering and collating all photos and graphics and liaising with third party service providers to produce, print and distribute publications.
  • Researches and produces excellent written copy across a range of channels such as web, social media, speeches and news releases, and materials including news and feature articles, brochures, advertising, and other items as required. Proofs and edits copy for accuracy, consistency and adherence to corporate voice, brand and style standards.
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • A Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, English, Journalism or Communications or other related field.
  • Over two years of practical, firsthand experience with communications planning, as well as execution and evaluation of a plan, preferably in a marketing and/or communications setting.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Over two years of professional business writing experience preferably in a marketing and/or communications setting, including experience writing a variety of communications materials such as news stories, news releases, web content, advertisements, etc.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and deliver strategic counsel and day-today deliverables in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with proven ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and clients at all levels of the organization, as well as stakeholders, online influencers, and others.
  • Understanding of human behaviour including customer needs and perspectives to ensure effective and respectful marketing and communications tactics, approaches, processes and outcomes that also meet business needs.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion and initiative.
  • Ability to perform at a high level of creativity, execution and accountability; excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
