Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:


  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the different employee benefits service providers (insurers and consultants).
  • Coordinate the group insurance renewal and enrollment initiatives, testing and employee communications.
  • Follow regulation updates and Domtar's Collective Bargaining Agreements to ensure the administration is compliant and aligned with industry standards.
  • Supervise the implementation of administrative and process changes.
  • Determine the course of action for complex administrative cases or to correct administrative errors, being sensitive to employee impacts and Union/Labor Relations risks.
  • Administer and coordinate the employee Well-Being initiatives and the Employee Assistance Programs, and have ownership of the related communication strategy, from its initial establishment to its rollout.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications and the service providers to execute the strategy.
  • Provide guidance and counsel to the Shared Services Benefits specialists and have oversight over the more complex activities.
  • Act as the second level for issues escalated by the DESC to the Benefits COE.
  • Identify actions needed to improve processes and practices.
  • Provide information and training as needed on complex Benefits topics.
  • Support the Canadian Benefits team with special projects, as needed.
  • Provide benefits support, advice, and explanations to Domtar's HR community.
  • Prepare annual budget, validate invoices and accruals for accounting.
  • Review technical benefits documentation targeted to administrators and/or employees.

  • Fluent in English* and French.
*This is required since as part of this function, you will have to intervene with customers, partners and/or our American subsidiaries on a recurring basis, both orally and in writing.


Professional Experience/Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, actuarial science, administration or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of Canadian benefits experience in a multi provincial environment.
  • Familiar with Canadian Laws & Regulations related to employee benefits.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Minimum 5 years Canadian benefits experience in a multi provincial environment.
  • CEBS or ACIA designation.
  • You must successfully complete a selection process that includes interviews, aptitude tests (for some positions) and preemployment verification._
