General Description of Class
Under general supervision, but in accord with specific procedures, controls the parking of vehicles in University of Toronto parking lots.
Typical Duties
The following illustrative tasks indicate the level of skill required, and the extent of responsibility involved in this job. They in no way limit the incumbent to the tasks indicated.
(a) removes minor obstacles and debris from parking lot; maintains the tidiness of the kiosk; spreads sand or salt over icy areas or parking lot;
(b) controls entry of vehicles into an assigned parking lot, identifying permit holders or special guests, rejecting those not authorized to park;
(c) directs and assigns parking lot users to parking spaces;
(d) informs the Parking Supervisor, Parking Control Officer or University of Toronto police in cases of illegally parked vehicles or unusual occurrences;
(e) collects money from parking lot users at a predetermined rate, making change as necessary and maintaining a cash float;
(f) balances cash collected with ticket stubs and delivers cash and receipts to me supervisor or to the Police office at the end of the shift;
(g) when necessary calls the University Policy in the event of an unusual occurrence or dispute; and
(h) other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements for Selection
Education:
Completion of grade 12 or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
Good oral English communication skills; must be courteous, tactful and use discretion in dealing with the public; physical ability to service parking lots and cope with inclement weather conditions; must be neat and tidy in appearance.
Experience in dealing with the public and handling cash, making change and balancing.Closing Date:05/24/2023, 11:59PM ET

Variable hours (from 15 hrs/week) Between May 1st and August 31st, casual employees who are full time students may work up to 40 hours per week.
Shift rotation, including morning, afternoon, evening and weekend (Saturday) shifts.Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:$15.50 per hour
