REMCAN is currently looking for a Safety Coordinator for it's Langley, BC location.


The Safety Coordinator will report to the Vice President, Occupational Health and Safety and work together with the Director and Supervisors of Occupational Health and Safety to provide leadership and assistance in health and safety planning, coordination, and execution of various rail construction projects.


The Safety Coordinator assists the Vice President and Director of OH&S in health and safety administration, company-wide training coordination, tracking and budget management, as well as certification and qualification tracking.

The Safety Coordinator may also aid site Superintendents with health and safety project preparation and document development.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Reporting to the Vice President Occupational Health and Safety and work closely with Safety Supervisors to assist in documentation management such as preparing and distributing safety meetings minutes, data entry, personnel tracking, training coordination and course scheduling
  • Administer CVSE Hours of Service regulations and applicable reporting (GEOTAB reporting)
  • Manage and coordinate specific business unit training requirements and related qualifications
  • Manage new hire orientation tracking, and onboarding activities for all new employees
  • Manage administration and documentation of REMCAN health and safety policies, plans and procedures
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure all employee files regarding qualifications, discipline and orientations are current
  • Ability to manage various deadlines and ensuring data entry information is maintained
  • Ensure and enforce compliance to all company, client, and legislated safety policies and procedures
  • Willing to learn new skills, be motivated to continually build knowledge, and grasp development opportunities within the occupational Health and Safety as well as Project Management team at REMCAN
  • Assist Superintendent and Supervisors in site supervision if required, including health and safety audits, daytoday logs of site activities, description of work with applicable job hazard assessment development and photo recording
  • Participate in various workplace investigations (when required)

Position Type:

Full-time, salary-based position - Monday to Friday (occasional weekends when required by project)_**

REQUIREMENTS:


  • 35 years experience working as a Occupational Health and Safety or Safety Coordinator or equivalent working experience in a related field
  • Excellent data entry skills, and computer systems operation to manage data and employee files
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, and basic understanding of MS Project
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and electronic communication skills
  • Ability to read and understand health and safety policies and procedures
  • Be selfmotivated and driven
  • Ability to work independently and to work as part of a tea
