We have an innovative legal and compliance team, comprised of more than 80 dedicated professionals, that participates as business partners to support Air Canada's strategic objectives.

When you join Air Canada and its Law Branch, you'll become part of a team of professionals who are making a difference in achieving Air Canada's mission of connecting Canada and the world.


  • Analyse legal frameworks in consumer law in Canada and internationally, identify risks and opportunities for Air Canada, provide advice to business units to manage regulatory impact, and drive regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Support and help define Air Canada's strategic approach to new regulatory initiatives in Canada and internationally, draft position statements, garner support from international partners, and coordinate industry response as needed.
  • Manage and supervise litigation files in Canada, before the Canadian Transportation Agency and other tribunals in Canada and in various countries, in collaboration with paralegals and external counsel, including drafting and reviewing legal proceedings.
  • Provide legal advice to business units on new initiatives, and develop creative legal solutions to support commercial priorities.

Qualifications

  • Two to five years of relevant experience in a major law firm or an established inhouse legal department, with specific experience in litigation.

  • Strong advocacy and written and oral communication skills, and the ability to convey messages and thoughts clearly, concisely, persuasively, to form compelling arguments based on facts, logic and law, to listen and question appropriately to gain full understanding, and to tailor the message appropriately to the particular audience.
  • A passion for learning and gaining a deep understanding of the business to more effectively support strategies and objectives.
  • Good business judgment and be strategic, pragmatic and thorough with a solid ability to assess risk, drive to satisfy and anticipate business needs.
  • Strong analytical skills, be strategic and creative and have the ability to consider, refine and redefine approaches to achieve workable solutions.
  • Enjoy having responsibility and working in a dynamic and constantly evolving environment alongside a very cohesive team of professionals.
  • Drive for results, respond to urgencies, displaying composure in difficult situations, and motivation towards achievement of goals.
  • Strong desire to participate as part of a team, to collaborate, support, empower and guide the team (when appropriate), with an ability to contribute to a shared sense of direction.
  • Inclination to take initiative and be proactive and resourceful.
  • Be adaptable and flexible to work effectively in a context of rapid change and to grasp opportunities to learn and build knowledge.
