About Western:

About Us:

The Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University.

We are committed to excellence in multidisciplinary research and scholarship that combines the fields of cell biology, neuroscience, and clinical anatomy; and to providing the highest quality education in these areas to students in a variety of undergraduate, graduate and professional programs including Medicine, Dentistry, Health Sciences, the Bachelor of Medical Sciences Program, and the Anatomy and Cell Biology Graduate Program.

The Department or Anatomy & Cell Biology at Western has a long and distinguished tradition of teaching, research and service that extends back into the early years of the university.

We have fostered generations of researchers and educators, many of whom have made major contributions to the advancement of the anatomical disciplines as well as to the fields of cell biology and neuroscience.

A sterling example of this is Professor Murray Barr, former Chair of the Department from 1953 to 1967, who is known for his ground-breaking discoveries in cytogenetics as well as his popular text in neuroscience education.

The Department continues to be the training ground for generations of anatomists and scientists who have defined their discipline and serve as its stewards.
