Welcome to the exciting opportunity within Integrated Infrastructure Services (IIS), where our vision is to cultivate trust among citizens and the Council by consistently delivering top-notch infrastructure.

As a key player on our team, the Project Coordinator will collaborate with the Branch leadership and report directly to the Program Manager.

With a focus on the City of Edmonton's Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will:

  • Support the Project and Program Managers and team in the public engagement process and implementation
  • Assist with and/or prepare project documentation per the Project Management methodology, policies and processes and other requirements
  • Support and provide/input information into Project Management Information System (PMIS)
  • Develop, evaluate and recommend options for effective and cost beneficial solutions
  • Attend site meetings and perform support/administrative activities
  • Perform other related duties as required
  • Review size and complexity of the project as to architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical, civil system
  • Review type and complexity of design and construction techniques, material required, collect and analyze existing data for further design review
  • Review prebid construction estimates and make recommendations to the Project Manager
  • Prepare and execute consulting agreements/construction contracts
  • Review asbuilt drawings and operating & maintenance manuals, coordinate approval prior to acceptance
  • Monitor corrective action on warranty items
  • Coordinate onsite meetings and visits to support project development (scope definition, feasibility studies, public engagement activities, etc.)
  • Prepare budget estimates and review preliminary drawings
  • Ensure the project abides by any applicable City of Edmonton Occupational Health and Safety Standards and Guidelines. These documents outline OHS accountability at all levels of the organization, relative to legislative OHS requirements. The area OHS Consultant can provide assistance

Qualifications:


  • Completion of a degree in a related field such as Engineering, Architecture, or Project Management and a minimum of two (2) years directly related experience in project management for infrastructure planning, design, construction or an area of specialization; OR
  • A Diploma in a related field such as Engineering, Construction, Architecture or Project Management and a minimum of four (4) years directly related experience in project management for infrastructure planning, design, construction or an area of specialization
  • Solid understanding of construction processes related to architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and landscaping disciplines
  • Skilled in project coordination including an understanding of project management methods and techniques (PMBOK best practices)
  • Demonstrated experience working with multidisciplinary teams in the delivery of projects
  • Proven planning, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Experience supporting public engagement processes
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to develop strong relationships and work in a collaborative, integrated manner
  • Experience working with external consultants and contractors
  • Working knowledge of relevant codes, legislation, regulations, policies and procedures (OH&S, Environmental, Builders Lien Act, etc.)
  • Ability to implement proper sequencing of construction materials for intended use
  • Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position, there may be a cost associated with this requirement.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent); You will be required to arrange your own transportation for use while on City business. Where appropriate, you will be reimbursed for expenses related to that travel in accordance with City of Edmonton policy
