Job Overview:
Under the day-to-day direction of the Security Coordinator, is a member of the Security team providing front-line customer service in a courteous, professional and friendly manner to both internal and external clients.
Responsibilities:
Client Service and Visitor Experience
- Uphold a professional appearance and demeanour at all times, reflecting the high standards of Heritage Park to visitors in both regular and emergency situations
- Contribute to the welcoming atmosphere for visitors by offering directions, answering inquiries, and providing information on events, exhibits, and safety guidelines
- Provide an exceptional customer service experience to all persons at the park (visitors, vendors, and staff), including offering directions, coordinating transportation, and responding to inquiries in a courteous manner
- Ensure conduct is always in compliance with, and that issued uniform items are always worn in compliance with the Security Services and Investigators Act and Regulation of Alberta
- Issues keys and radios to authorized staff members, ensures sign out/sign in procedures are followed at the beginning and end of the staff members' shifts, and follows up on any missing keys or radios
- Acquire knowledge of unresolved matters from prior shifts and be wellinformed about all scheduled functions and events during the shift, (banquets, contractors, and special events), including arriving on time for the 15minute shift briefings/passon from previous team
- Manage access for staff, contractors, visitors and media through the Security gates by adhering to access control protocols
- Escort designated employees with cash to and from their work destinations, and issue and receive cash boxes and floats when the Treasury Office is closed
- Patrols of Park property on a scheduled basis and accurately recording required information on the daily security report, building heat checks, vehicle logs, incident report and/or accident reporting structure
- Secure any unlocked buildings/exhibits, turn off lights, and identify and respond to safety and fire hazards, mechanical failures, damage or vandalism
- Performs routine checks and actively monitors security systems, overseeing the arming and disarming of buildings under the purview of the Security system (motion, access controls, temperature controls) as necessary
- Promptly responds to alarms triggered on both the Security systems and the Fire Alarm system with attentiveness and efficiency
- Respond to all calls for first aid with the assistance of other staff members if required.
- Maintain and replenish first aid supplies and fire extinguishers, ensuring that items are consistently wellstocked and ready for immediate use as well as check monthly for adherence to OHS and fire code requirements
- Provide parking and crowd control, and set up necessary barricades and signage to ensure orderly and safe traffic flow and enhance public safety
- Monitor Park's Lost and Found system, recording all information and contacting owners for quick and efficient retrieval
- Inspect and maintain the Security vehicles, ensuring the vehicle log has been completed on each shift for accountability, safety, and optimal operational readiness
- Contribute to the development of security policies and procedures when required by providing input based on best practices and organizational goals
- Clear snow from designated areas ensuring safe and unobstructed pathways for all individuals
- Perform other duties as required
- Contribute to inspiring and immersive experiences at the Park through your roles and responsibilities by engaging in Heritage Park initiatives that align with the overall mission and vision of the Park
