Position Overview:

The Mental Health and Addictions Recovery Services is a fundamental component of the community-based Services within the WRHA.

The services work collaboratively with other WRHA service areas, and community agencies, school divisions, post-secondary institutions, social services, health services, and other partners, to promote and protect the mental health and well-being of the population across the lifespan.


Under the supervision of the Lead/Manager, the Mental Health and Addictions Resource-Education Facilitator develops and coordinates a variety of mental health and addictions recovery promotion projects with a focus on training and education.

The Mental Health & Addictions Resource-Education Facilitator develops, coordinates, delivers and supports a range of educational and training activities to enhance the capacity for positive mental health within the WRHA and broader community.

Also, they will assist in the development of training resources that address key practice issues within the Mental Health & Addictions Services and supports the development of staff competencies in a number of areas.


Experience:


  • Minimum of four years of experience working within mental health and/or addiction services (may include clinical mental health/addictions, health promotion, community development, program coordination and development).
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivering training both in person and virtually.
  • Evidence of knowledge and experience in the principles of adult education.
  • Strong group facilitation, training and mentorship skills.
  • Experience in working effectively with a diverse range of groups including professional groups, workplaces, advisory groups and communitybased organizations.
  • Experience and ability in developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with a broad range of individuals and organizations, including the ability to facilitate, collaborate, and resolve conflict.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate partnerships for service development and delivery.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in service planning and project management.
  • Experience in resource development related to public mental health promotion and addictions recovery campaigns.
  • Experience in mentoring staff's professional development and developing comprehensive staff training platforms.
  • Experience in leading knowledge exchange and communities of practice.
  • Experience with data collection and reporting.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):


  • BSW, OT, BSc PN, RPN, BN, RN, or related health/human service degree required.

SPECIAL TRAINING:


  • Proficient in the use of virtual training delivery modalities.
  • Education and skills in the principles of adult learning.
  • Group facilitation/presentation.
  • Extensive knowledge of recovery principles, recoveryoriented practice and a comprehensive understanding of the environments, conditions and practices that support individuals and family's recovery efforts.

Certification/Licensure/Registration:


  • Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of active registration with the appropriate registering body.
  • Subject to criminal record and abuse registry checks.
  • Requires a valid driver's license and a vehicle.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Proficient in computer software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for individual, small and large group interactions both within health region and community partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and team skills essential.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and prioritize workload.
  • Knowledge of populationbased health strategies and approaches.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of cooccurring mental health and substance use disorders, psychosocial rehabilitation, traumainformed service, and empowerment.
