Savanna Drilling Canada is searching for a
Shop Hand to join our team.

As a
Shop Hand at Savanna, you will be under the direction of the Technical Services Manager, assist with maintaining the shop and yard at specified location and keeping area in a clean and organized manner at all times.

This position is based out of our Leduc, AB office.

Core Responsibilities:


  • Maintain a clean shop facility area, using domestic cleaning solutions (including cleaning of all equipment and general work areas);
  • Carry out maintenance and safety checks of the company's powered mobile equipment and vehicles;
  • Responsible for all yard work, such as organizing the pipe storage area and setting out supplies for the rigs and shop;
  • Pick up/deliver general supplies using company vehicle;
  • Assist with moving of equipment on rig moves when needed;
  • Ensure Safety equipment such as SCBA, Fire Extinguishers, etc. are certified and restocked in the shop for future use;
  • Transport employees as needed;
  • Additional duties as assigned supervisor.

Qualifications and Required Skills:


  • Operate forklifts and Kubota as well as power tools;
  • Operate appropriate equipment for lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling, carrying, handling or transporting heavy or awkward loads;
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment;
  • Perform all work following work instructions and/or safe operating procedures;
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Effective organization and time management skills; detail oriented with excellent follow up abilities;
  • Decision making skills, ability to trouble shoot and problem solve. Ability to assess a situation and find a reasonable answer;
  • Self starter who enjoys responsibility and accountability;
  • Must have the ability to work occasionally overtime or weekends as required.
