Youth Worker, Summer Youth Leadership Development Program
West Neighbourhood House, formerly St. Christopher House, is a multi-service, neighbourhood-based
agency that has served the diverse communities of downtown west Toronto since 1912. The central purpose
of West Neighbourhood House is to enable less-advantaged individuals, families and groups in the
community to gain greater control over their lives and community.

Responsibilities:
Plan and implement a 7-week Youth Leadership Program-Counsellors in Training for youth
ages 13-16;
Implement skill-based activities for youth; volunteer experience, communication, teamwork,
leadership, conflict resolution, and employment skills;
Plan and implement a variety of social and recreational activities in addition to the skill development
activities, such as:
sports, crafts, out trips and games;
Provide support to participants during their volunteer placements;
Conduct on-going evaluation of the program and its effectiveness;
Prepare a report at the end of the program;
Work closely with supervisor, reporting progress, problems that arise, and other related matter;
Work and liaise with parents;
Provide support to program staff and volunteers as required;
Work as part of the Children Youth and Family Support Programs team.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in related field (Child and Youth Worker, Community Social Services,
Social Work) or equivalent combination of training and experience;
Experience working with youth/teens ages 13 to 16;
Demonstrated experience in
at least 2 of the following areas:
Program planning
Delivery or participation in youth leadership programs
Program evaluation
Working with community partners in volunteer projects
