RESEARCH COORDINATOR - MENTAL HEALTH & ADDICTIONS
***Position Summary


Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Research Services and under the direction of the Research Chair and Research Associate - Mental Health & Addictions, the Research Coordinator - Mental Health & Addictions will be responsible for assisting in various research tasks related to the Mental Health & Addictions research program and current research studies.

This includes supporting the implementation and spread of projects regionally, the identification, development and submission of research project funding proposals, coordinating the implementation of various research projects, and monitoring project progress against deliverables.

The Research Coordinator will also provide assistance and support in the coordination and implementation of various research projects in the community.

The Research Coordinator should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and work effectively in both a team environment and independently with mínimal supervision.

This is a full-time, one-year temporary position with the possibility of extension.


Responsibilities:


  • Provides support for projects from inception, implementation and evaluation, including spread across regions;
  • Provides support with operational processes such as managing regulatory requirements, ethics submissions, departmental approvals, funding requirements, etc.
  • Facilitates communication among the team, HSNRI management team, MHAP management team and external collaborators/partners
  • Serves as a liaison with outside sponsors or granting agencies and their representatives by clearly communicating and coordinating research projects
  • Facilitates the set up and coordination of projects and ensures monitoring and reporting arrangements are adhered to including quality assurance through accurate and timely data reporting
  • Schedules and arranges meetings, chairs and completes administrative duties for regional meetings (i.e. minutes, action items, etc.)
  • Assist with tasks related to preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts
  • Works with researchers and funding agencies to ensure that all funding conditions are met (i.e. invoicing, expense monitoring, reporting, requirements, certifications, etc.)
  • Liaises with others to solve postaward related issues such as over expenditures, subagreements, extensions, end dates, terminations, change in status, eligibility, conflict of interest, etc.
  • Monitors and reviews expenditure transactions for compliance
  • Facilitates year end or study wrap up reporting requirements
  • Remains current with changes in research policies and regulations by actively participating in team sharing and learning activities
  • Identifies, develops and maintains a service excellence model based on the principles of continuous improvement
  • Maintains databases and tracking systems for current and historical project information
  • Contributes to administration activities (e.g., development of templates, policies and guidelines, standard operating procedures, and provides assistance with the development of process improvement initiatives).
  • Assists with data entry and database management
  • Performs other related duties, as required and dependent on training and experience.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Graduate degree preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
Experience / Special Skills / Training

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in research and/or research project coordination
  • Knowledge of culturally safe research practices
  • Knowledge of mental health and addictions, in particular substance use and treatment modalities
  • Experience in project coordination
  • Thorough understanding of the principles of service excellence and demonstrated ability to deliver superior customer service
  • Solid understanding of research projects, funding opportunities and guidelines
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Excellent organizational skills including timemanagement and welldeveloped multitasking skills with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fastpaced environment, balancing competing deadlines and priorities
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
  • Professional demeanour, people skills and the ability to interact, communicate with all levels of support (administration, management, clinicians, researchers and community)
