$ $23.56

The Community Support Assistant (CSA) will provide supportive services to clients residing at St. Joseph's Care Group under the Home for Good Provincial Housing Initiative partnership located on Dawson Road. This position works in conjunction with the multidisciplinary treatment teams. The CSA will provide ongoing, non-judgemental support and encouragement to marginalized individuals struggling with mental health, addictions and homelessness.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- Community Support Assistant training program or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Addiction/mental health training and previous work experience in an addictions/mental health field
- Current Standard First Aid certificate
- Working knowledge of principles of psychosocial rehabilitation
- Should possess an awareness and understanding of addictions and be familiar with the recovery process
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, coworkers, and SJCG staff
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Sound judgment, good problem solving skills, effective interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy and sensitivity to clients, family members and other service providers
- Basic computer skills
- Demonstrated regular attendance at work
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Required to work flexible hours and rotating shifts
- Standard First Aid and Heartsaver Plus Certification
- Valid class G driver's license and adequate insurance
- This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
