The Manager is responsible for the success of the team's mandate, and by extension, coaching and developing the Analysts to reach their full potential and their monitored performance metrics.

The role will track performance at the team and analyst level and report these to the Director and the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO).

The Manager also collaborates with and supports the Director, AML Compliance in driving continuous improvement initiatives, and rolling out related changes to the team through effective process and procedure documentation.


The Manager, AML Compliance role reports directly to the Director, AML Compliance, and collaborates and works closely with Business Unit Compliance Officers (BUCOs), the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), the Chief Anti-Money Laundering Officer (CAMLO) and other Canadian and Corporate teams.


What will you do?

  • Manage the centralized AML/ATF program across all Canadian Business Units and functions, including maintenance of policies and procedures, monitoring performance of the program and resources, and completion of associated reporting
  • Manage internal and external regulatory reporting obligations, including Suspicious Transaction Reports (STR) and Electronic Fund Transfers (EFT)
  • Lead a team of analysts who perform the full spectrum of AML/ATF activities by managing and supporting the team in their daytoday activities and by providing effective coaching and development to team members in order to achieve a high performance culture with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Collaborate with the Regulatory Compliance Management & Policy team to review and assess AML/ATF regulatory developments and changes as part of the formal Regulatory Change Management process in Canadian Compliance.
  • Provide functional support to the Director with various initiatives and projects related to all aspects of the AML/ATF Compliance program

What do you need to succeed?

  • A minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in regulatory compliance, with a passionate focus on AML/ATF compliance in the financial services industry
  • A minimum of 3+ years of direct people management experience, preferably leading a high volume production team, with strong results orientation
  • Sound coaching and performance management skills
  • In depth working knowledge of AML/ATF governing legislation, related regulations and guidelines, including PCMLTFA and related Regulations, Criminal Code of Canada, United Nations Act and related Resolutions / Regulations, SEMA, JVCFOA, OSFI B8, FINTRAC guidelines and international guidance and best practices such as FATF Recommendations and EU Directives
  • In depth understanding of money laundering and terrorist financing issues and current developments/techniques
  • Very strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to influence change
  • University education preferably in law, finance or relevant advanced degree, and current AML/ATF certification (eg. CAMS)
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment methodology
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Excellent attention to details with high level of accuracy
  • Experience in drafting policies and procedures
  • Strong understanding of STR process and regulatory requirements related to filing STR
  • Experience in performing Quality assurance in a high volume team environment
  • Ability to work effectively with persons at all levels of an organization
  • Strong work ethic, dedication and ambition to lead the team to deliver exceptional results
  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required
    for Quebec only as the position reports to a unilingual Englishspeaking manager outside Quebec
