GFL is looking to hire a Payment Coordinator based out of our Vaughan office


Key Responsibilities:

Match payment items with invoice back up prior to cheque printing
Manage all courier requests
Ensure any special handling for cheques issued are handled effectively and timely
Support the special handling process and tracker
Sample cheque validation for cheques with large values
Work closely with Office Services team to coordinate couriers or special pick ups
Support the payment schedule and AP payment admin team with gathering printed cheques, sorting, reviewing and logging cheque numbers
File all invoice back up not entered directly in primary Financial system
Ensure that all cheques are distributed to authorized signatories for signing
Follow up with signatories for all cheques requiring signing
Escalate any cheques for signing that is considered a rush
Work with cheque stock provider for the ordering of additional stock
Lead the boxing and the data retention of all filed items
Box annual files and work with third party vendor for document storage
Support the Payments Team with rush requests
Support month end in identifying any outstanding cheques
Support the follow up with vendors and AP staff on non-payment inquiries
Work with other AP staff to support any audit requirements or invoice pulls or follow up
Where necessary, assist in compiling data for various reports
Ensure all forms and reports are completed as needed


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

A certificate or diploma in Business Administration required
1-3 years of accounting experience specific to full cycle Accounts Payable
Proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
Experience with AP workflow solution and Great Plains are an asset
Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
Strong customer service and troubleshooting skills
Exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation, and objection handling skills
Strong organizational, written, and verbal skills with attention to detail in all areas of work
Able to work well under pressure and multi task in a fast-paced work environment meeting set deadlines with multiple interruptions
Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal communication skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse work environment as part of a team as well as independently
Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to staff privacy
Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and within teams
