Job Title:
Payroll & Benefits Coordinator**

Rate of Pay: $30.89/hour; increments as per collective agreement
JOB SUMMARY
The Payroll and Benefits Coordinator oversees all aspects of payroll and benefit programs service delivery including
planning, preparation, execution and reconciliation of full-cycle payroll and benefits administration for hourly and
salaried employees, and supports the management of finance, human resources and records retention. Develops
reports that support program evaluation in relation to Finance and Human Resources objectives; researches and
implements best practice activities. The Payroll & Benefits Coordinator is a knowledge leader in the payroll system and
provides guidance and support to users and regularly liaises to promote a client service focus and confidence in
service delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Payroll Training Certificate (must have Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification with Canadian
- Maintenance of professional designation of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) as per the Canadian
- Diploma (two year) in Business Administration or related field combined with a minimum of three years'
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of professional full cycle payroll practices and procedures, requirements, and tax
- Demonstrated knowledge of full cycle benefits administration and software
- Skilled in developing specialized and technical reports based on payroll and benefits data for internal/external
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs with advanced skills using Excel spreadsheets (e.g.
- Exceptional time management and prioritization skills with proven ability to set and meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge/understanding of privacy laws & confidentiality related to business/employee records.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to establish and maintain professional
- Sound use of judgment supported by consistent tact and diplomacy.
- Critical thinking and analytical skills to problem solve, with the ability to troubleshoot and analyze
benefit plans, statutory regulations and other agency guidelines.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision, to be able to solve problems independently as well as within a team
