Department Overview
The TD Equipment Finance (TDEF) team is a centre of excellence within TD Specialized Commercial Banking.
Our mandate is to structure equipment financing (leases and loans) for business clients and prospects as an alternative to other conventional bank sources of financing such as term loans.- As the Collection Officer, you will be joining a fast paced and energetic environment as part of the TD Equipment Finance Collection team.
In this role, you will have an opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals within the field of Operations, Credit and Risk.
You will gain exposure supporting the Originations, Commercial and Risk Teams and assist the greater organization in achieving its annual goals and objectives as an active participant.
In this role, you will:
- Review, support and manage delinquencies associated with medium to highrisk portfolio consisting of early stage, aged and complex delinquent loans of high value collateralized accounts
- Research credit and account information to assess appropriate Collection activity to reduce or cure the delinquency and minimize loss
- Review assigned portfolio to ensure timely identification and resolution of accounts in Bankruptcy, Receivership, CCAA status
- File proof of claims with Trustees, ensuring proper release of security, maximizing recovery and participate in job specific and company training as required.
- Utilize a high degree of knowledge and understanding of company policies and procedures and execute without issue
- Lead by example and handle core assignments effectively while taking on additional responsibilities
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
- Professional interaction with both external and internal customers
- Exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
- Strategize and implement account resolution strategies on the more complex Problem Loan customers
- Contribute and grow expertise, individual and team efficiency in areas of workout, PPSA and legal strategies
Job Requirements
- 3+ years of Commercial Collections experience, or equivalent collections business experience
- Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to deal with internal and external customers
- High attention to detail
- Excellent organizational, followup, analytical and problemsolving skills
- Ability to manage projects and prioritize tasks
- Commitment to service excellence and process improvement
- Must have bilingual communications skills (English/French required)
