    Job Description

    JOB SUMMARY

    Supports and optimizes automated systems within our manufacturing operations, initially focused on a newly developed automated warehouse system. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to document and support the execution of automation initiatives. The ideal candidate is a seasoned self-starter with a strong background in industrial automation and a record of accomplishment in delivering tangible results in manufacturing environments. This position requires travel to plants in the both the United States and Canada.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to manage appropriate automated systems controls and standard operating procedures.
  • Documents warehouse management system processes, becoming a subject matter expert and understanding integration points with packaging, manufacturing execution systems, and transportation management systems.
  • Trains and supports onsite super users on the appropriate troubleshooting steps to identify and resolve issues with the automated systems.
  • Assists in development of monitoring and management dashboards to facilitate the proactive identification of potential issues.
  • Assists in coordination and documentation of integration points, issues, and operating procedures between multiple internal and external vendors during implementation and on-going support of automation projects.
  • Solicits employees' feedback on performance and functionality of automated systems to help improve system efficiencies.
  • Collaborates with Information Security team to monitor performance of automated environments to ensure adherence to OT security, disaster recovery, and business continuity best practices and frameworks.
  • Helps coordinate change approval and testing efforts on automated systems.
  • Performs other duties as they might be assigned.
  • Regular and predictable, full-time, on-site attendance during scheduled hours
  • EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field preferred
  • 3 year experience in technical / automation / ICS / MES, process design, and/or project management, including process troubleshooting and optimization. Prior experience with PLC & HMI programming, SCADA Systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems, Software Integration, Industrial Control Systems, Warehouse Management Systems, Ladder Logic, preferred.
  • KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / COMPETENCIES

  • Basic knowledge of design, application, and maintenance of multi-sourced automated management systems and related instrumentation
  • Good organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to support improvement and commissioning of new and existing equipment and test the automation of manufacturing systems
  • Ability to assist in installing, upgrading, maintaining, and troubleshooting hardware and software, on new and/or used equipment used in automated manufacturing systems
  • Ability to connect the organization's goals and objectives with automation policies and plans
  • Motivated, independent worker, capable of innovation working as part of a team
  • On-call availability per schedule
  • 30%+ travel
