We have an opportunity for a Machine Operator at our Rice Plant located in Scarborough, ON.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Prepare and operate the machine for start up.
  • Follow the production schedule as directed by the supervisor and prepare for changeovers such as: setting and loading packaging film on the machine, changing the sealing parts, and raw material loaded on the machine.
  • Observe and ensure the machine is operating efficiently and complies with company specifications.
  • Continuous monitoring and observation that production is meeting quality standards such as: ensuring the correct film is selected for each production run, accurate weight, UPC, country of origin, and the overall durability of the packaging.
  • Troubleshoot and determine machine problems or breakdowns.
  • Keep an accurate log and record of production output.
  • Adhere to the company's Food Safety, GMP, and Health & Safety Regulations.
  • Perform responsibilities under SQF standards.
  • Lead a team of line packagers and ensure all company standards are being met.
  • Communicate with supervisors and maintenance team for malfunctions and work with them to resolve

COMPETENCIES:


  • Read and Write English.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to commit to overtime and shift work when required.
  • Able to stand for extended periods and be productive within a repetitive lifting environment
- ability to lift up to 25 kg

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:


  • 1 year of experience in a similar role and/or environment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
