The role of Front of House & Barista; Food Focused is an essential part of our business.


You perform in your role with passion, and take upmost care as a representative of our brand and product, and are motivated to consistently deliver the excellent customer service expected.

Whilst providing a positive and inclusive environment for customers and staff, our staff are accountable for providing quality service and product in a safe and clean environment.

Primary Duties

  • Adhering to company policy as stated in the Employee Handbook, at all times
  • Greeting and serving customers in a friendly, confident and prompt manner
  • Adhering to Food Safe, Work Safe policy's and following BC Liquor laws
  • Following procedures and completing tasks as set by the store manager
  • Maintaining a consistently clean, sanitized and safe work environment throughout shifts. This extends beyond the service area and includes bussing and cleaning tables, and dishwashing
  • Setting up food preparation areas and equipment, espresso machine and all serving stations in preparation for shift
  • Clean up and pack down of food preparation areas and equipment, espresso machine and all serving stations at end of shift
  • Preparing quality foods and beverages for customers, in a timely manner and following set recipes and procedures
  • Overseeing and leading food preparation and kitchen stock levels in accordance with the Kitchen leadhand and supervisor team.
  • Ensuring all staff are promoting, practicing and compliant with FoodSafe procedures and guidelines (including food temps, food handling and receiving procedures
  • Staying uptodate on current food safe practices
  • Checking product stock levels to ensure consistent availability. Communicating low stock levels to team leader to address / ordering where required
  • Providing uptodate dietary and ingredients knowledge to customers on all food and beverage products, or promptly locating information
  • Providing correct information on grocery/retail products, or promptly locating information
  • Work with kitchen leadhand in food development projects, as directed by manager
  • Sourcing products from suppliers, considering food costing budgets
  • Addressing packaging, handling and storage of products
  • Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers
  • Collaborate with team and make adjustments according to feedback and suggestions
  • Managing food costs:
  • Maintaining product inventory through consistent rotation
  • Ensuring correct ordering procedures followed
  • Limiting wastage
  • Promptly receiving and packing away deliveries and consistently rotating product
  • Restocking retail and food displays, and facing the store, ensuring it is tidy and clean throughout your shift
  • General knowledge of store POS system and credit/debit machine
  • Working with your team to ensure daily tasks are completed each shift
  • Immediately reporting all maintenance and operational concerns to team leader
  • Handling cash responsibly
  • Other duties assigned by team leader or business owner

Qualifications

  • Previous customer service
  • Previous experience/interest in handling, preparing or cooking food in a professional setting
  • Barista experience (preferred) and/or willingness to attend training
  • Food Safe Level I (preferred but not required)
  • Serving it right (required)
  • All applicants must be legally allowed to work in Canada
