JOB DESCRIPTION


Kitco News is hiring a Financial News Anchor/Producer to assist in the creation of video news and multimedia content for our rapidly expanding channel.


THE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Anchor newscasts in an energetic and professional manner relaying pertinent information to viewers
  • Research and conduct indepth interviews
  • Pitch original story ideas and source guests for interviews
  • Cultivate contacts and book guests for interviews
  • Write scripts and questions for interviews
  • Write articles based on video content
  • Create attentiongrabbing headlines for various mediums
  • Conceptualize, pitch, develop and produce news segments
  • Identify market trends and interesting daily financial markets movements affecting the markets
  • Research and write scripts for news content.
  • Select video, charts and coordinate the editing for material that appears onair
  • Attend various conferences globally
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain relationships with editorial and opinion talent
  • Build and enhance key internal and external partner relationships, facilitating short to longterm content and editorial planning

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:


  • University degree in Journalism with a strong knowledge/interest in Finance or University degree in Finance
  • Finance, business and/or commodities news background required
  • At least four years of broadcast anchoring or reporting experience
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, precious metal sector, crypto sector, macroeconomics, and geopolitics.
Ability to present on camera with gravitas and authority

  • Solid vocal delivery, camera presence, and clear enunciation
  • Ability to produce quality work quickly and in an organized manner
  • Ability to think quickly during breaking news,
  • Attitude: must be eager, cooperative, energetic, teamoriented
  • Should have excellent news writing and copyediting ability for all platforms including social media
  • Strong production vision: ability to envision a segment or package and turn it into reality
  • Field production work and experience working and coordinating with all necessary resources in remote locations
  • Ability to adapt to changing technology
  • Effective group and individual communication skills
  • Understanding of journalism ethics
  • Excellent English language skills.
  • Must include a link to online reel when applying
  • Must be willing to travel to conferences and industry events globally
  • Flexibility to work any assigned shift with ability to work nights, weekends and holidays; or longer shifts due to breaking news
  • Must be based in Montreal or willing to relocate
